About us
Hampshire preschool presents a balanced curriculum based on research and best practices for children of ages three to five. We combine play, skill-building, social-emotional development opportunities, and structured academics to promote your child’s success. Each learning experience is tailored to your child’s learning capabilities rather than their age. Classes are divided into four levels. Your child will participate in ongoing assessments to ensure that they progress through programs when they’re ready.

Our curriculum
Arts and Music are integrated at the core. Our preschool program is based not on the age of the child, but at their pace of learning in different areas. Not all children like to play with the same toys – each child is different. We customize our approach based on the child’s preferred style of learning. That’s what makes us so effective. And it makes Safari Kids stand out as natural leaders in a group, creative problem solvers and generally a grade or two ahead of their peers.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 1
Our early learners engage in active learning daily. Children engage in exploration through their senses and free play.
Small and large groups are used to encourage participation and form relationships with teachers and peers.
Each morning, we follow a special routine, so the children gain confidence by knowing exactly what to expect at the start of the day.
This level introduces students to the alphabet, phonics, basic science concepts, and basic number sense.
We use handouts and charts to supplement these subjects. Story Time fosters emergent language skills.
During the day, kids have repeated opportunities to work on gross and fine motor skills, creative arts, and music and movement.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 2
Level 2 is based on our Hampshire kids Thematic Approach.
Class participation enhances social/emotional awareness and the modeling of appropriate classroom behavior.
We support all levels of kindergarten preparedness with our curriculum.
Our morning routines are designed to encourage participation and boost confidence with public speaking.
The Hampshire copybooks prepared by teachers provides opportunities to practice the concepts of number sense, basic mathematical concepts, and spatial knowledge.
We introduce vowels, sight words, and early language concepts.
Scientific inquiry is supported by our creative curriculum, and there’s always plenty of time for creative arts, physical play, and fun and free exploration.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 3
Our focus moves towards advanced phonics, reading comprehension, mathematical concepts, and spatial and temporal knowledge.
PRESCHOOL LEVEL 4
In Level 4, the children are nearly ready to graduate to kindergarten!
Their academics, language skills, motor skills, social-emotional foundation, and life skills are at or beyond kindergarten expectations.
The curriculum for these students includes math, spatial knowledge, temporal knowledge, reading, recognition of letters and numbers, world awareness, and writing skills.
Students continue to pursue hands-on scientific inquiry, language development, and increased self-esteem.
Free play is always part of the Safari Kid day, both in large and small groups.
ASSESSMENTS
As in our preschool programs, we assess each child’s learning on a regular basis. When your child is approaching Level One readiness, we will discuss the transition with you to make it a positive experience for your child.

Introduce your child to an educational setting at Hampshire. Our Toddler Program is designed to set a solid foundation for entry into our Level One Preschool Program.
Specific areas
Language arts
The world of books and stories is introduced very early, in all the languages that we offer. Through stages, we improve reading and language skills step by step.
Writing
Writing skills are developed initially through a lot of tactile play, art, manipulating natural materials and progress through more traditional methods. Our project-based learning approach integrates writing into the program as from 2 years old.
Mathematics
All fun and games, but our four-year-olds can happily do simple addition and subtraction, in addition to counting in 5s and 10s – things required for much older kids!
Self expression
Our Art and Music programs encourage children to be themselves and express their ideas via different media and materials.
Science and technology
Through experimentation, questioning, and interacting with the environment, children are exposed to the natural world and some of the scientific principles that underpin it
Public speaking and confidence
It’s really about the ability to stand up in front of other children and talk about something – a favorite toy, or what they did on vacation. We help kids develop their confidence.
Logic and reasoning
Science, math, problem solving and much else depends on developing a strong ability to reason, and an understanding of logic. Through games, role play, stories and thought experiments, we enhance children’s abilities to think logically and solve problems.
Understanding of the world
Our theme based program introduces children to different aspects of the world around them every day, giving them a growing appreciation and understanding of themselves, their environment and the people around them.
Principles
Our principles are captured most simply through our 3C’s – care, curriculum and communication. It’s at the heart of everything we do in each of our sections from daycare to primary school.
Care
Children must be brought up in a safe, secure, warm and stimulating environment for the most effective nourishment and development in the early years.
Curriculum
A strong foundation is the scaffolding of the future. Effective early childhood education is a combination of play based, explorative learning and a structured approach, in an environment that is fully supportive of the needs of the individual child.
Communication
Parents are partners in the education of their child. Effective and constant communication is key to the overall development of the child.
Our history & mission
After personally experiencing a gap in the quality of early years education and a lack of innovation and creativity, we set about creating an environment that would allow our children to thrive.
We believe that if our kids fall in love with learning, if they come up the curve quickly and have fun along the way then they will become life-long learners, with growth mindsets, well equipped to take on all of life’s challenges.
That is Hampshire’s history & mission.
